It's time for a new look at a popular trend that becomes more interesting every season! This is also Part III in a series we call 'The Art of Shoes' - where fashion and art come together to produce some gorgeous statement heels.
The wedge heel made a comeback a few seasons ago, and continues to be a popular choice for a couple of reasons - an interesting wedge boot with jeans, or paired with leggings and boyfriend jacket can give you an immediate style lift, but they are also surprisingly comfortable. A wedge ankle boot should be a staple in your shoe closet, and you will also find a terrific selection below.
Statement wedges come in an assortment of shapes, and what makes it stand out can vary. Look for an unusual geometric heel - a dramatical cutout like Lanvin and Alaia, or even a subtle optical illusion shape. Colour and print can make a wedge heel pop as well - patent animal print, ombre suede, or even an overall bold colour (an example of all of these found below!). Last but not least, honorable mention goes to Alexander McQueen this season - Elizabeth Olsen wore the Jeweled Finned Wedge to the New York Film Festival premiere of "Martha Marcy May Marlene". What a look!
