Sheer Trend for Summer 2012: Minimalist shirts, maxi dresses & tunics

Here's a trend that can be obviously daring or surprisingly conservative!

We have seen sheer knits and chiffon's before, but this is a fresh look at some new season arrivals. The sheer trend is chic, but what makes this interesting is how it leans towards the menswear trend now. Minimalist shirts, simple maxi skirts and dresses, and even some tanks and tunics that you can wear for both day and night.

Despite what you might think, this can be a trend you can wear to the office, just make sure you stick to neutral colours - nothing in black (save that for the evening) or bright colours (too bold to be sheer) and wear a solid colour tank or camisole underneath to minimize the sheer effect. Alternatively, keep a sharp little jacket nearby to cover up when it's appropriate.

Give your weekend and evening wardrobe a fashion forward kick with something sheer - the sheer maxi is getting some celebrity wear (Katy Perry is a fan), or you can just continue to mix your textures. A sexy little top with sheer panels can be paired with leather pants (or shorts) and strappy sandals for a look that will get you noticed.
