Spring Fashion Trend: Leather Shorts - urban chic for the new season | Summer 2012

Now here's an item that makes a statement this season - it's a must-have for fashionistas, and the perfect item to pick up if you want to venture outside your comfort zone for Spring/Summer 2012. Leather shorts have started to arrive at a faster pace now, and I've put together a terrific selection below.

Taking a step back, the leather trend has already been covered here - we did say that it was going to be important in Spring 2012, but what we didn't know at the time was how easy it would be to update your current wardrobe with just one item! Leather shorts will change your look completely, as you can wear them with anything from crisp little shirts already in your closet, the floaty floral print blouses you have fallen in love with, even your sporty tanks and jackets will get an instant lift with leather shorts.

Black leather has an edge to it, and there are plenty to be found online, but if you're new to the leather trend, it might be easier to transition your look with a softer colour. Luckily this season we have all sorts to choose from - blush, nude, light grey and even some colours to mix and match. We are talking about shorts, but keep in mind this is an urban trend - leather shorts should be dressed up to get the full effect (statement sandals and all that!). but they can also be dressed down in the city. Casual flats, a simple tee and leather shorts is also a great look this season!
