We have certainly covered lace before here on ShoppingTheTrend, and you might remember it was rather "dark & dramatic". But for Spring 2011, you want to throw out all your previous ideas of the lace trend.

This is not dramatic and mysterious at all... it's romantic, pretty and very feminine!

If you follow celebrity fashion, the very first statement lace dress from Spring/Summer 2011 made a fabulous appearance on the red carpet at the BFI London Film Festival.. that was Michelle Williams in a bright red lace dress by Erdem. The Spring 2011 version of the lace trend can be subtle (lace trim or simple accents) but if you want to embrace the look, nothing beats a lace dress. There are some terrific choices - and since lace is the focal point of the dress, you want to consider a simple shape. Shift dresses, sleeveless or 3/4 length sleeves.. nothing that is too busy or layered in this case.

While lace looks lovely for a night out, this is actually a daytime trend as well. Lace shirts & cardigans paired with elegant trousers are the perfect choice for the office. And last but not least, keep accessories to a minimum, let the lace make the statement.
