Spring 2011 Sunglasses Trend: The new cat eye sunglasses - retro and glam!

- Season: Spring 2011
Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' remains one of fashion's most iconic looks - and since retro styles have made a comeback, it makes sense to see cat eye sunglasses back in the spotlight! Sunglass trends are interesting to cover - while key trends do exist, there are plenty of subtle varieties out there that do change each season. And it's also understandable that the only time we pay attention to sunglass trends is when we have to buy a new pair for ourselves!
There are still the main basic trends - retro, oversized, glam and aviators - and when you look at the Spring/Summer 2011 runway, most of these are present. But there are always a few standouts each season, and cat eye is one of them right now. It was a very popular shape back in the 50s & 60s, and the new version can be as quirky or subtle as you want it to be!
Christian Dior showed us some very fashion forward examples of cat eye, but there are some equally stylish examples (and perhaps a little more wearable!) varieties online. Keep in mind the new cat eye sunglasses can also be a little more oversized and glam than the traditional shape you are used to seeing (less pointy!).
But feel free to explore your funky side with some fabulous over the top examples - both Alexander Wang and Tom Ford have both produced some fabulous cat eyes. Check out the selection below..
