This is one of my favourite trends for Spring 2011 as there is something for everyone and it is universally flattering! Hemlines can change, colours may come and go, but there is an element of this trend that can be worn by everyone..

Ruching is actually a French word that means to gather, ruffle or pleat, and if you follow celebrity fashion, you will have seen plenty of these looks already! Pleating, draping and ruching have been a staple on the red carpet in recent seasons, and it is now making a transition to your own everyday wardrobe.

It's important to mention that wearing a ruched dress doesn't mean it's a tight dress - depending on the fabric, the dress (or top) can easily mold to your shape without any tightness at all. It can enhance your own curves, and smooth out any bits that you want to hide! Check out the gorgeous green dress by Catherine Malandrino for a perfect example of elegant ruching.
