Fall 2012 Trend: Check, plaid & tartan prints for the new season!

Summer sales are in full swing now, which means it's a perfect time to snag a designer bargain.. and if you're looking to do a spot of smart shopping, pick up something in plaid for the upcoming Fall/Winter season!

It's definitely not too soon to be looking at Fall trends, and one of the perennial favourites has made a stylish comeback - perhaps it was the Kate Middleton effect last year, as the new Duchess of Cambridge has been a royal inspiration. Checks, plaids and tartans are back, and as usual, you can choose to wear the trend in a variety of ways. You can fully commit to the trend - this Vivienne Westwoood dress is the perfect example - or add item pieces to  your wardrobe, for a little bit of tartan here and there.

This may be a traditional trend, but that doesn't mean tartan has been recycled - there are some fresh new fashion forward prints that we haven't seen before. Alexander Wang has a fabulous Trompe L'Oeil collection (perfect for the evening as well!), and how about Elizabeth & James ombre plaid shirt..? And for those of us who love shoes, a statement pair of tartan pumps will add major pop to your favourite little black dress, or dress up jeans and a tee.
