Fall 2012 Fashion Trends: Leather dresses, tops & more!

Leather is the trend that keeps on giving, so if you have already invested in quality leather pieces this summer (plenty are available on sale right now!), you can skip this altogether, and know you're in good shape for the new season!



If you follow celebrity fashion, you will have seen some very notable leather looks on the red carpet in the past few months, and you are correct in assuming they were all pieces from the Fall/Winter 2012 runway. Leather has always had a reputation as being rather edgy, and while that certainly can be true, these new season looks are softer - you don't need to wear skintight trousers or mini skirts here. There are buttery soft tops, elegant pleated skirts, kicky little dresses in warm shades, and even pretty pastel colours to choose from.

Keep in mind this trend will continue take shape when the long summer evenings start to cool off - leather will be joined by suede and other natural skins in the coming months (shearling and fur in the winter). But it makes perfect sense to share this trend now as all those summer leather pieces on sale now can easily be worn next season! Breathe new life into your favourite jeans with a black sleeveless leather top (statement gold cuff at the ready!), or pair a casual tee with a pleated leather skirt for a fresh new look (statement pumps at the ready!).
