Fashion Trends at play: Celebrity Leather Jackets

Fashion commentary is everywhere, so every once in while, a good photo tells a much better story! We pulled these very recent photos from our Celebrity Edition, and it's pretty obvious which trend has taken off!

A party dress, strappy heels with a razor sharp leather jacket. A stylish leather jacket will last you many seasons, but this season it's combined with anything from a beaded mini (Vanessa Hudgens) to an Herve Leger bandage dress (Kate Walsh). Cheryl Cole has been a real supporter of this trend as well, she's been spotted in some of the coolest jackets (see her on a night out with Ashley wearing one!).

So if you have a fun evening out, this will be a very simple homerun look: Dress up your look with a terrific mini, the dress it down with a leather jacket.

Cheryl Cole definitely knows what suits her - whether it's a jaunty trilby, a form-fitting dress that shows off her curves, or anything with the color yellow!

Yellow has recently become her signature color, and she wears it very well. From a yellow Ralph Lauren polo (with white jeans) to a dynamite one-shoulder canary mini-dress at the 2008 Brit Awards (shown here).

Her casual chic is as memorable as her red-carpet appearances: a tan leather jacket that everyone was talking about, and jeans with a trendy Adidas by Stella McCartney belted trench, and oversized tortoise sunglasses.

This trend is courtesy of Elisabeth Hasselbeck from 'The View' - we already profiled her in this terrific tweed & mesh dress on our Celebrity Edition, when she wore it on the show on October 7th, and it was time to take a closer look at some new season arrivals! When someone mentions kate spade, our first thoughts tend to be handbags & leather goods (for me, it's boots - I have a dynamite pair of kate spade Wellingtons!), but over the years, the brand has expanded to include beauty, sleepwear, stationery, home, and much more. It's the dresses that caught my eye today - something for day, for holiday parties, and those elusive 'day to night' dresses!

You can find kate spade dresses at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom & Bloomingales, and the selection below covers a number of current trends. Elisabeth's dress was chic tweed, there are dresses in bold shades of red and purple, color block, minimalist shapes and even a terrific zebra-inspired black and white print. The price is right, and the styles are both wearable and trendy..

2012 Golden Globe Awards - Red Carpet Trend

The Golden Globe Awards were held in Los Angeles tonight, and while the Hollywood Foreign Press showed their appreciation for silent films ('The Artist' picked up Best Picture & Best Actor in its category), and continued to love both Claire Danes and Kate Winslet (both previous Gloden Globe winners), we enjoyed a variety of looks on the red carpet.

From soft blush, which definitely was the new black, shades of blue that varied from sky to midnight, whites that were both shiny bright and encrusted with delicate pearls, even bold red and metallics were represented. But one trend stood out on the red carpet, as we welcome the return of the fishtail gown! Most of these were strapless dresses, but an assortment of styles and colours were still well-represented.

Among the notable celebrities in fishtail were Reese Witherspoon, Elle Macpherson and Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen (although Elle gets the award for biggest fishtail with a near explosion of tulle at the hem!), Paula Patton was the lone celeb in bright yellow, wearing a Monique Lhuillier gown, and even individualist Tilda Swinton had a kicky fishtail with her Haider Ackermann ensemble!
