Store News: Kiehl's celebrates 160th birthday with launch of Kiehl's Gives & Celebrity Global Ambassadors

Fashion & beauty for a good cause is always enjoyable to share with readers, and Kiehl's Since 1851 will be celebrating the brand's 160th birthday with a new philanthropic initiative. This is a unique concept - for their birthday, Kiehls will distribute $160,000 to charity, and the amount received by each charity will be determined by public vote!Three pillars have been created, each supporting an area of concern: the environment, children's well-being and HIV/AIDS. Eight charities have been chosen, and each pillar is fronted by a celebrity ambassador: Pharrell Williams, Julianne Moore, and the Scissor Sisters.
Kiehl's has launched a new website kiehlsgives.com (going live on June 15th), which will host a series of short films about each of the charities, and the public will be invited to vote for their favourite initiatives. The pillar that receives the most votes will receive the biggest amount. This is a fun competition between the new ambassadors where everyone is a winner! Each celebrity is championing charities they already work closely with, and in the case of Pharrell Williams, an eco-tote he designed is already available in Kiehl's stores worldwide.
Kiehl's was founded in New York's Lower East Side, an original old-world apocathery, and their skin and hair formula continues to be derived from unique natural ingredients. Designer News: Karen Elson to launch Nine West Vintage America Collection - shoes, handbags & jewelry

Joining the ranks of other models-turned-designers, Nine West has announced a collaboration with British model Karen Elson on a limited edition collection of accessories for the Vintage America Collection. The collection, which will debut in the fall, will include handbags, shoes and jewelry, all with a vintage feels that represents Karen's own personal style. She has been a constant presence on the runway for the past 10 years, but did you know she is also an accomplished singer and songwriter..? She actually performed at the Etam Fall/Winter 2011 runway show, during Paris Fashion Week in January.
Some of the models-turned-designers have seen great success with their collections - Kate Moss for Topshop and Elle Macpherson (who has built her own empire!) both received critical and retail success.
The Vintage America line was launched by The Jones Group in 2009, which a goal "to permeate today’s cultural niches while at the same time creating authentic and innovative products that tap into a new generation of Nine West customers", according to Stacy Lastrina, chief marketing officer.
