It's official! Not only has Prince William married his Princess Catherine, we now know the best kept secret in fashion! Indeed it was Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen who designed the gorgeous white lace dress seen on Kate Middleton at the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine on April 29th.There was much speculation late on Thursday that it was Sarah Burton, as she was snapped arriving at the Goring Hotel, and while she was wearing a trapper hat (for disguise!), she was immediately recognized.
The dress itself was a slim-fitting strapless, Victorian style corset underneath a high-neck sculpted bodice in hand-made lace.custom made lace. And the English and French Chantilly lace was significant - it incorporated four emblems of the United Kingdom: the rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock. And the layers of the dress were designed to resemble an opening flower. There was some real attention to historical detail here.
The dress had long medieval-style sleeves and a long train on the softly ivory and white satin gazar skirt.
And it does seem like it was a nod to another Princess - Grace Kelly of Monaco, who married Prince Ranier in 1956. Grace was the first modern princess of the 20th century, and was a supporter of Princess Diana. This dress is very reminiscent of Grace's wedding dress, especially the veil. Check out the gorgeous photos below!

There was also a real sense of history to this dress, with a romantic Victorian influence, but I couldn't help by wonder what Alexander McQueen would have thought, what a tribute to his legacy. Photos below.. what did you think.. rate the look below!
