Spot: Atelier Versace, Tom Ford & Christian Dior as seen on Katy Perry at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards held at LA Live on August 28th.Well, since Lady Gaga chose to stay in her Jo Calderon character for the duration of the MTV VMAs, we have to look elsewhere for a wacky fashion fix. And Katy Perry stepped up nicely.. wearing quite an assortment of styles! Two out of three were Haute Couture, and you will never believe which one wasn't (hint: it was the best of the bunch!).
First, she walked the black carpet with hubby Russell Brand looking straight out of a cartoon! She wore a quirky light blue, yellow and pink trim geisha style mini dress - and it was couture outift Number 1. This was Atelier Versace, from Fall/Winter 2011.. a Japanese inspired beaded mini dress, and Katy matched her hair to the pink flowers in the dress! Close-up of her pink hairstyle here..
We saw her next on stage, introducing Adele's performance (which was a real highlight), and she looked gorgeous in a sheer violet gown by Tom Ford, from his Fall/Winter 2011 collection. Not couture, but stunning.. and my personal favourite.
Last but not least, she collected her award for Video Of The Year in another quirky ensemble - a dress with pink top and black & white graphic print skirt. This was actually Christian Dior Fall/Winter 2011 Haute Couture - yes, Katy wore the outfit straight from the Paris runway, complete with that yellow cube on her head. Photos below!
