What a delightful red carpet at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival Premiere of 'Sleeping Beauty', and THESE two looks just jumped out at me. Both of them can be classified as "blondes in shades of gold with rep lippy", yet they couldn't look more different! I have my own personal favourite, but I'm curious what readers think of the dramatically different gold ensembles seen on Diane Kruger and Rachel McAdams on the red carpet.
They BOTH posed with their actor-boyfriends as well - Diane and Joshua Jackson have been together for almost 5 years, Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen met last year filming 'Midnight in Paris'.
Spot: Gucci & Gucci Premiere dresses as seen on Salma Hayek on Day 1 of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival - 'Puss in Boots' Photocall & Red Carpet Premiere on May 11th.
It was this time last year that Salma Hayek debuted Gucci's couture collection, Gucci Premiere - a collection of exclusive dresses that would not be shown on a runway. And since Salma is married to François-Henri Pinault (CEO of PPR, who owns Gucci), she was given the honour to debut the collection at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
Fast forward one year, and Salma is once again a vision in Gucci!
Spot: Maxime Simoens & Marchesa dresses as seen on Rachel McAdams on Day 1 of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival - 'Midnight in Paris' Photocall & Red Carpet Premiere on May 11th.
Rachel McAdams set the fashion bar VERY high at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, with a couple of terrific looks here. She started her day attending the afternoon photocall of 'Midnight in Paris' wearing Maxime Simeoens Haute Couture, looking pretty darn amazing in an ivory dress with gorgeous floral applique at the shoulders and hips (I hope those aren't pockets, she might lose a few petals!).
Her hair and makeup is lovely, the soft pink matching a new lighter shade of blond.
Spot: Uma Thurman wore Dolce & Gabbana and Versace white dresses on Day 1 of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival - Judges Photocall & Opening Ceremony on May 11th.
The 2011 Cannes Film Festival kicked off today, and with Uma Thurman on the judging panel, we're guaranteed some notable looks (in addition to all the other notable looks on the red carpet!). Last year the judge to watch was Kate Beckinsale, and I'm looking forward to covering lots of Uma this year.
At the first judges photocall, she posed prettily with Jude Law and Robert DeNiro (who is the presiding judge this year). It makes me wish Jude was still with Sienna Miller, she would've rocked some of the premieres!
Shopping Spot: Buy Alice & Olivia dress online as seen on Ashley Benson at 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' World Premiere held at Disneyland.
Every Monday, we calculate "Designer Charts" - those labels receiving the most celebrity wear in the past 30 days (it can be a shopping spot, red carpet dress or even street chic, they all count!). And I'm guessing Alice & Olivia might end up near the top spot by the end of the week, as we have one more celebrity sighting!
I haven't read any early reviews of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' (May 20th release), but we can assume the box office will be spectacular (much anticipated film). And while Penelope Cruz was one of the main events at the premiere in Marchesa, there was a terrific shopping spot on the red carpet, in plain sight!
Shopping Spot: Buy Alice & Olivia grey mesh sequin dress online as seen on Mira Sorvino at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of 'Angel'.
They say timing is everything, and I'm pleased I waited to share THIS dress..
Mira Sorvino attended the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival wearing a light sequin dress by Alice & Olivia that many thought was the "Gabby" dress (as seen on Selena Gomez!). I'm pleased to share that she WAS wearing Alice & Olivia, but it's actually the new season Russell dress - although it's fine to classify this as the new season Gabby. It is a similar subtle sparkling pale grey stretch-mesh dress with sequin stripes.
Shopping Spot: Buy Alice & Olivia belted floral print dress online as seen on AnnaLynne McCord from after party for the new cast of the Off-Broadway production of 'Love, Loss and What I Wore'
The big Costume Institute Gala in New York on Monday night jumped the queue (it is an important fashion event, after all!), but it's now time to catch up on some shopping spots that have been waiting in the wings.
AnnaLynne McCord is a fan of Alice & Olivia, as regular readers will know, and you can see exactly why when you take a look at these photos! She looked terrific in a new season red floral dress at the after party for the new cast of the Off-Broadway production of 'Love, Loss and What I Wore' last week.
