Spot: Leighton Meester & Sofia Vergara in Marchesa at the 2012 Met Gala - celebrating the opening of Schiaparelli and Prada 'Impossible Conversations' at the Costume Institute, held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York City.

You can count on something major from the Marchesa design team, and both Leighton Meester and Sofia Vergara got the full red carpet treatment at the Met Gala in statement ballgowns straight from the Marchesa runway.

It's easy to forget that Leighton is nothing like Blair Waldorf, but when you see her in this kind of a gown, it would be an easy mistake to make! She wore a pale gold gown, with delicate embroidered gold applique on nude mesh, and a skirt that turned into a fantastic spray of organza. This is much more major than we can see in the photos, you have to see the close-up details below.

And Sofia Vergara looked va va voom in a very structured pale hint-of-blue strapless gown with one heckuva fishtail skirt - and like Leighton, this gown had delicate embroidery throughout, silver instead of gold. From the Spring/Summer 2012 runway, I think she looked magnificent!
