Anne Hathaway: Teal dress & the exact look of Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2009
 Anne Hathaway fans will be pleased to see their girl out & about last night, attending (and presenting) at the Annual Village Voice OBIE Awards in New York. This is an unusual choice for Anne, Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2009, it would seem the designers themselves styled her - speaking of the Proenza Schouler boys, one of them was on the receiving end of a Keifer Sutherland headbutt at the Met Costume Gala after-party. If I hadn't seen the photos of his broken nose, I never would have believed it (my Keifer, behaving badly??).
Anyway, Anne is wearing a blue/green (teal) shade, seemingly scaly, dress with cut-out shoulders. The reason I suspect she was styled by the guys as she is outfitted EXACTLY the same way as the collection photo. Normally you see a variation provided by the stylist, Anne is wearing the SAME look, even down to the lace-up boots.
Personally, I would have given the tights a miss.. while she's wearing Pre-Fall, we are not there yet. Interestingly, when Gwyneth Paltrow stepped out in PS in February, she was also styled EXACTLY the same as the collection photo. Controlling designers, perhaps..?

SAG Awards: Winning look in white gown by Azzaro
 Ohhh, I'm digging this dress on Anne Hathaway... at this evening's SAG Awards, she look stunning on the red carpet wearing a beautifully embellished Azzaro gown. If you saw her being interviewed on E!, she specfically said this is one of her favourite gowns, and I don't blame her one bit. For all you Girls Aloud fans, if you've been reading the coverage here, you will know Nicola Roberts wore a sassy little Azzaro daisy cut-out dress for their performance on BBC Children in Need. You can actually buy Azzaro online - it's a French design house, founded by Loris Azzaro, and was synonomous with the jet-set lifestyle of the time. According to Azzaro designer Vanessa Seward, "Mr Azzaro's sole concern was how to turn heads when a woman walks into a room, and what woman doesn't want that." I'll say...

 Original Source: Anne Hathaway spends most of her camera time on the red carpet, so I was quite happy to see some snaps of her Street Chic during her recent trip to Europe to promote Bride Wars with Kate Hudson. And quite surprised to see her carrying the coveted See by Chloe Daytripper! Jessica Alba, Miley Cyrus, and now Anne... who is seen here carrying the gray satchel. Just a word about thi item - it's actually getting more difficult to find - when I profiled Jessica Alba back in September, there were definitely more to choose from. Anne Hathaway: Sophisticated tuxedo jacket & fab pumps!
 You know Anne Hathaway & Kate Hudson totally coordinated their outfits for the New York premiere of Bride Wars (reviews not so great yet, but it's early days!) - Kate shimmied her way down the red carpet wearing a black & white print Oscar de la Renta gown. But for me, it was Anne who stole the show.. take a look at THIS styling! It's not so much the double-breasted tuxedo jacket with skinny pants, it's the impeccable hair & makeup that I'm digging. Cheryl Cole would be proud of THIS big hair - how 60s of her.... and the headband works perfectly. As for the shoes, well, I'm on a shoe kick lately (not over boots yet, but getting antsy for open toe).. and Anne is wearing the prettiest party shoes I've ever seen.  So it's only January 5th, and I'm about to award Anne Hathaway the Street Chic look of the month! OK, maybe I will wait a couple more weeks, but really, this will be hard to top, GREAT look! This is exactly what you should be wearing on a crisp & sunny winter day (with no snow on the ground of course!). Anne was snapped leaving an office building in New York City, after a meeting with "Bride Wars" co-star Kate Hudson. No reviews available yet, but the movie looks like it has some fabulous fashion moments.. Back to Anne, she's wearing a gorgeous belted white winter coat, paired with skinny jeans, sky high red pumps, and vintagey tortoiseshell sunglasses. Anne Hathaway shows how to wear navy blue
 Anne Hathaway made an appearance at Elle's "Women in Hollywood Event" at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles this week, wearing a perfect shade of blue! This is actually a two-pece dark blue suit with red metallic threads, paired with a sash that brings it together (and makes it look like a dress).
Dark blue has been a very hot color this season, and you might want to know Anne is wearing an outfit from Spring 2009, not yet available to us mere mortals. So you can consider yourself trend-warned. Dark blue (or midnight, or navy, whatever you want to call it!) is not going anywhere for another season.

 Anne Hathway has been turning heads lately with a new shorter 'do, and a fabulous new wardrobe - most of it right off the runway! She appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight wearing this midnight blue & black mini wrap dress from Marc Jacobs Resort 2009 collection. The interview was great - she answered all the embarassing questions from Dave about the ex (you know, getting arrested for being an imposter, stealing millions & all that). And attributed her recent stunning looks to giving up smoking & drinking & becoming a vegetarian!

A Closer Look at Anne Hathaway's Gown - Venice Film Festival
 Anne Hathaway wore a jaw-dropping, quite stunning gown on the red carpet to the premiere of her film "Rachel Getting Married" at the Venice Film Festival. She's pretty gorgeous to start with, but this level of haute couture really suits her!
The gown is a creation from Atelier Versace (Fall 2008 of course), and interestingly, Donatella Versace chose NOT to show this collection on the runway. Rather, patrons were invited to view the collection by appointment only. Which leaves us (those who did NOT schedule an appointment) only able to view photos & sketches that were made available to the media.

Cameron Diaz: White summer dress for her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
 Wow, check out Cameron Diaz looking pretty as a summer picture in Los Angeles, on hand to receive her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! She's wearing an embroidered ivory dress from Oscar de la Renta's Resort collection (including the red belt), and not only is this a super easy look to achieve, it's one I would highly recommend, if Cameron is anything to go by! Keep in mind that Oscar de la Renta combined white & red for Resort 2010, so wearing this combination now will put you a trend-step ahead. There is something quite polished about this look, I also like that Cameron has toned down the red lippy for this occasion, soft make up colours really do suit her California blondeness! Back to the dress, this is a good time to add a white dress to your wardrobe, as there are some fantastic sales going on right now. Cameron Diaz: Kids' Choice Awards in Michael Kors to London in Lanvin leopard flats
 A day in the life of Cameron Diaz.. after attending the Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday evening, she must have gone directly to the airport for a long flight to London, as she was snapped arriving at Heathrow on Sunday! I will assume Cam flies first class as there is NO way I would be looking that fresh after a twelve hour overnight flight. Check out her 2009 Kids Choice Awards outfit - a terrific Michael Kors polka dot top (Demi Moore had the dress last month), 7 for all Mankind Jeans, and a great little red clutch. Celebrity Trend: Hey Cameron, I like your blue Balenciaga bag!
 Anyone see Cameron Diaz in a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live this past weekend..? I love her character Kiki DiAmor, she plays is perfectly, and yes, very over-the-top! Anyway, she was spotted at the SNL after-party, and all I could think of was "hey, Cameron Diaz carrying Balenciaga?".. I'm used to seeing her with Louis Vuitton or major Versace-type bags. Balenciaga is very major too, but it doesn't have that same glitzy over-the-top look I associate with some others. As I've said before, Balenciaga IS available online.. please don't get caught up with the knock-offs, they don't last, and you end of paying a real premium for crummy material. The real deal is a truly beautiful leather item, and you will wear it for many years to come!

 It's nice to see Cameron Diaz out & about on the red carpet (she hasn't been snapped much lately), and it's not a moment too soon, if this is how she's looking! Here she is at Opening Night of the new Broadway Musical 'Shrek' on Broadway, wearing a white dress, with light gold jewelled embellishment, and a cape-style coat casually thrown on. Add a pair of subtle gold peep toe pumps, and you have the perfect Holiday look! Including the red lippy - I know she usually chooses the natural with make up, but this is a terrific exception..

Carla Gugino: A ray of sunshine in yellow at Race to Witch Mountain Premiere
 After a busy few days (details later, just finished up some major mystery shopping), it's time to get back to the business of Celebrity Trends with a focus on the new spring season! And what a way to get started with Carla Gugino in the prettiest bright yellow dress I've seen. She can be forgiven for the summery dress as the Premiere of "Race to Witch Mountain" as the event was actually held in Los Angeles. As far as the new tropical colours go this season, yellow is featured quite prominently. And if it is too soon for head-to-toe yellow where you live (winter still hanging on, or dreary wet spring days), simply combine yellow with black. Not unlike Nadine Coyle the day after the Brit Awards.. and in the meantime, take your pick of yellow below!

How to wear a silver dress: Eliza Dushku
 Check out these snaps of pretty Eliza Dushku attending the Boston Common magazine cover party for the new Spring issue (her own cover), she looks great! Now THIS is how you wear a silver dress... the length is flattering (not too long, not too short), she has kept accessories to a minimum (non-existent except for a simple braided belt), and hair & makeup is soft & polished (nothing harsh to clash with the metalic silver).
If you thought for a minute that metallic was out, think again! The only difference is that last season's heavy fabrics have been replaced by light, almost foil-like metallics... think light jersey, a bit of draping & not too structured.

 Eliza Dushku is one of those celebs with natuaral chic, and you can definitely see it here! She was snapped minding her own business leaving Bardot in Los Angeles, and all I could see was that fabulous pink Little Stam by Marc Jacobs! Interesting as I haven't seen that colour in stores yet, even though new Spring 2009 handbags are starting to appear online. I love the simple styling - high-waisted jeans (not for everyone, please make sure this stye suits you!), little gray knit jacket, and the tropical pink handbag. This is a perfect way to start adding Spring to your wardrobe.. add a splash of tropical colour to your existing winter wardrobe.  Original Source: When I see a teenager carrying an A-List handbag, I'm not sure whether to commend then, or suggest something a little more age appropriate! But in this case, little teen Emma Roberts pulls this off.. she's at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, and this look has won me over. I wish I could tell you the Juicy Couture ruffle scarf is still available, but it's sold out right now (will keep readers posted tho). Emma Watson shows why blue is the new black: The Tale of Despereaux Premiere
 Budding fashionista Emma Watson is turning into a seasoned pro on the red carpet, if this appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of "The Tale of Despereaux" is any indication! She put on the perfect pose & smile in a dynamite dark blue mini dress, corset-style with sheer long sleeves.
Supposedly, she's going to be applying to uni (somewhere.. rumour has it in the States), but filming for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows begins in February, so it seems acting (and fashion) will stay on the front burner. At any rate, she wears blue really well, and it also continues to be a very important trend this season, both on and off the red carpet! Paris Fashion Week: A week in the life of Emma Watson
 If you're an 18 year old actress and budding fashionista, what do YOU do with a week off..? Well, Emma Watson - of Harry Potter fame - just spent her week in Paris, sitting in the front row of the most pretisgious catwalk shows in the world, during Paris Fashion Week.
While she's not an official Face of Chanel (yes, that's what the job is called!), she certainly is a youthful & fresh representative for the 80-year old fashion house. In addition to the Chanel show, she also made front-row appearances at Yves Saint Laurent, Sonia Rykiel, Giambattista Valli and Christian Dior.

Eva Longoria Parker looks fun & casual in a belted safari jacket & skinny jeans, topped off with some terrific chandelier earrings. Our favorite part of the oufit, however, is how she continues the animal theme all the way down to her shoes, with some great (faux!) pony peep-toe pumps. Spot the trend: Eva Mendes Spider Web Cuff
 During her appearance in Sydney yesterday to launch the 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty event, Eva Mendes looked terrific in a dress by Hong Kong designer John Rocha and (all the rage) sky-high berry-color Yves Saint Laurent t-strap sandals.
But what caught our eye was the subtle spiderweb cuff on her wrist - and we decided to look for some more spider-inspired items. This is a fun accessory trend (like butterflies this past summer, and skulls in previous seasons).. in the insect world, spiders have been known to prey on butterflies, and this sets the perfect tone for the dark gothic season coming up!

Blake Lively in THAT white dress, and more from Swarovski Concept store opening
 The LWD ("Little White Dress") goes from strength to strength this month as Blake Lively totally rocks her white backless Roberto Cavalli dress with black sheet panels. The original runway item was actually black, but since this is the season of black lace on white, this version makes sense. Blake attended the grand opening of the Swarovski Crystallized Concept store in New York. Also on hand was Lucy Liu, wearing a very pretty coral draped dress by Paul & Joe. I actually do my own mystery shopping (not sure readers knew that!) and Paul & Joe Sister label is one of my favs... if you're in London, check out the store on Kings Road (recently re-opened)... helpful & nice staff, it's also terrific collection for the price point. I have my eye on a majorly fringed bag, the Maze. Evan Rachel Wood showed off her edgy side in this head to toe Gucci runway outfit, and Chloe Sevigny opted for the neutral trend in a soft scalloped suit by Chloe. Four terrific looks, all very different!

Blake Lively CW UpFront: Buy her bright blue Adam playsuit online!
 Last night the CW held it's big UpFront 2009 event (which basically announces their fall TV schedule) and check out Serena van der Woodsen once again "flashing her inheritance" (credit for that line goes to a pal, and you know who you are!). She appeared at the event in an attractive, if not a wee bit casual, bright blue silk playsuit by Adam. This is the first time we have seen her since a couple of red carpet appaearances in designer gowns. Nice to have her back. I also noticed that the blue of her playsuit matches the blue of CW logo in the background - we have to give her props, she's guaranteed a flattering photo! As for how to wear.. like Blake with simple heels, or throw on a blazer to add an urban vibe, or even dress it down with gladiator flats for a more relaxed summer feel. Blake Lively: Stunning & leggy in asymmetric fuchsia dress on Letterman
 .. so I watched Blake Lively on The Late Show with David Letterman tonight... found some great snaps taken before and after the magic of a stylist, hairdresser and make up artist; talk about a fabulous transformation! Is it just me, or is she WAY more animated as her own self..? Serena seems to spend most of her time pulling unhappy faces (no disrespect to Gossip Girl fans, count me in as one!). Blake seems fun, pretty & way more natural. She told a cute story about her little pet Maltipoo on a plane.. The pre-stylist look is a long plaid shirt with opaque tights & Christian Louboutin ankle boots, thrown together with a navy trench. And her one-show asymmetric dress was also very pretty, the shade was more fuchsia/berry than purple (the lighting in the photos have darkened the true colour). Since tropical hues are very hot this season, you may want to consider a statement dress in a similar shade.. selection below!

 I'm enjoying these "How To" profiles (and judging by the traffic, so are readers!) - as I've said before, Red Carpet arrivals may be fabulous & inspiring, but there is nothing more disappointing than to find out you can't buy the dress now. Or for another 3 months. If at all. I love when a celeb appears in a completely wearable and equally fabulous outfit, and Blake Lively is the winner this week! She appeared at the New York premiere of Australia this week, and while all the focus was on Nicole Kidman, Blake definitely hit all the right fashion notes. Wearing a black lace skirt with white ruffle trim, she boldly paired it with a little cream cardigan, and finished off with a wide taupe belt. Blake Lively wore this interesting number tonight to the opening party for Juicy Couture's 5th Avenue flagship store in New York City. This look totally made me think of a 3/4 length sleeve black mini worn with opaque tights & little black ankle boots. Classic, simple & elegant.

It's nice to see our new fav new color getting more exposure lately.. in the past 2 days, berry dresses have been trend-spotted on Kim Kardashian (ahead of her Letterman appearance this week), and also at the recent Gossip Girl party held at Henri Bendel's to celebrate the season premiere. This color really suits Kim with her dark coloring, and it's great to see her wear something a little more.. well... classy.

 When I heard Gwyneth Paltrow was appearing at the Cinema Society and Salvatore Ferragamo screening of 'Two Lovers, I thought "oh, she'll be wearing Salvatore Ferragamo", which I think was a fairly normal assumption. And then I saw the pics.. and squinted.. and thought "hey, I've seen that before.. the EXACT look". Not Ferragamo at all - she's wearing Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2009. In the EXACT style of the lookbook.

 I was uncertain how cropped jumpsuits would look in real life, but Gwyneth Paltrow (she of the edgy fashion choices!) has made me rethink this trend! She really pulls this off - snapped here leaving Madonna's house party in London. And speaking of Madonna, how busy has she been..?? Finished up her Sweet & Sticky tour in Sao Paulo just a few days ago.. was celebrating the following night at Bar Secreto (still in Brazil), and is now back in London hosting a party that included Gwyneth Paltrow & Stella McCartney..? If it were me, I would be nursing my jetlag in yoga pants, not entertaining celebs! Anyway, I really like Gwynnie's look here - she keeps the jumpsuit simple with a long tuxedo-style black jacket & simple black pumps. The terrific blue clutch is a fantastic accessory. Halle Berry: Wows at Wolverine screening in black bodycon dress
 If you're looking for a reason to add a new LBD to your closet, look no further than Halle Berry - she looked insanely gorgeous in hers at the special screening of ""X-Men Origins: Wolverine" in Los Angeles last night! Street Chic: Hayden Panettiere buy her black & gold sunglasses online
 Hayden Panettiere was out & about in Los Angeles, doing her thing, shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills, and I definitely noticed her sunglasses, they're terrific. Took a closer look, and discovered these are David Yurman.. I know he makes fabulous jewellery, but the sunglass collection I had not yet seen. It came out last fall, and the PR photo showed frame adorned with stones (didn't really care for that look). Now these are sunnies I approve of, the Waverly in black, with simple gold arms. They're not over the top (or in your face, 'scuse the pun!), and it's great to see oversize black frames still in style. You can switch to Ray Ban Wayfarers if you like, but Hollywood glam (or that Jackie O look!) is not going out of style any time soon.  Just after bringing you Jessica Alba's Miu Miu bag, I was asked about her sunnies, which actually look like oversized Ray Ban Wayfarers, but alas they are not! They are one of a fun collection of colourful plastic frames made by Super, an Italian company that goes by the name of Retro Super, and you CAN buy these online. Yes, I know you can buy them at Barneys, but they only ship within the continental USA, which doesn't help those outside of the US. Here is a selection of online availability from Tobi - interestingly enough, I just mentioned them as a US store that sells PPQ (one of only a very few!), and they charge a flat fee for international shipping via UPS (3-5 days).  Another reader request, which means time to share with everyone! Jessica Alba has been spotted a couple of times wearing a really interesting white tee with an unusual motif - first time I saw it, I thought it was an upside down peace sign. Understandable, as Omni Peace was seen everywhere at the same time (Eva Longoria, Jennifer Aniston, etc) - must've had peace signs on the brain. Anyway, Jessica's tee is actually produced by photographer Estevan Oriol - this photo is called "LA ROUND 2" (creates the letters L & A with a pair of hands), and you can buy the tee direct from his website. 2009 People's Choice Awards: Kate Hudson in palace blue Gucci gown
 The People's Choice Awards isn't really the most exciting show to watch, however this is a pre-show for fashion-watchers. A lead up to a bigger event - The Golden Globe Awards this Sunday night! Look for some very high profile appearances this year. That's not to say some stylish celebs didn't put their best Jimmy Choos & Christian Louboutins forward tonight, I'm picking out a few standouts for the upcoming spring season (informative and practical, that's me!). I don't tend to show "what they were wearing" just because that's what they were wearing... it has to mean something. So here goes! Kate Hudson wore a blue asymmetrical blue ombre gown from the Spring 2009 Gucci runway - the colour is gorgeous on Kate, even though it's not necessarily the most flattering shape (makes her less shapely than she is). But take note of THIS colour: Palace Blue. THE must-have colour for Spring Summer 2009.

Kate Hudson: Sparkles on Letterman in backless Emilio Pucci sequin dress
 When I saw Kate Hudson wearing this dress on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight, I knew it was Emilio Pucci - can't miss that bold pattern, and futuristuc vibe of Matthew Williamson's Spring 2009 collection! This is a fabulous sequined zigzag patterned mini dress in green, white, black & brown, with a plunging back.. the picture really doesn't do it justice, it was so bright, sparkling & fun! She styled with with opaque tights and statement black & gold platform pumps. Not quite visible in the photos, she had some really fun green dangling earrings too. There are very easy ways to add Pucci to your wardrobe, and I've picked out some fun treats. Pucci makes fabulous fun light footwear as well (Pucci wellies were on my list until I found some kate spades!), and every girl needs a real Pucci scarf in her collection. Enjoy!

 What a treat to see Kate Hudson in such a gorgeous colour! I will confess that I'm a huge fan of turquoise.. I don't know why, it's just one of those personal things (some colours you like, others not so much). While colours come & go in trends, I'm thrilled to see this one looming large for Resort 2009, and looking even more forward to Spring/Summer 2009. Here is a wonderful selection of turquoise treats to give you a nice head start.  I've always liked Katherine Heigl's choices on the red carpet, she usually sticks to the look of old Hollywood glamour (fabulous curvy gowns, polished hair, red lippy).. but tonight she totally surprised me. And what a pleasant surprise! She pulled an Anne Hathaway and wore a sleek & sophisticated Dolce & Gabbana suit to pick up her People's Choice Award. AND like Anne, her hair was styled back in a hairband.. Katherine wore a 2-band version, not unlike Cheryl Cole who was the first to wear this new trend. Instead of showing you a Dolce & Gabbana suit, I'm going to recommend you take your best boyfriend blazer out of the closet (you have one by now?), throw on some skinny jeans & platform pumps, and pick up a funky little hairband. Or is it headband..? You can call it either...

 Katie Holmes got her mojo back, dontcha think..?? And that's not a pet name for Tom Cruise either! She appeared in London to support the UK premiere of 'Valkyrie', looking stunning in a black beaded cocktail dress by Escada (love the tie straps!), and wearing a rockin' pair of Givenchy lace ankle sandals that just arrived online. For me, this is Katie's best look in years.. the hair is terrific in a sleek deep side-part bob, and the makeup is flawless.  Katie Holmes continues to be snapped going to/from her Broadway play (or taking Suri out to play!), and today I'm giving her props for a terrific Street Chic look. At first glance, this looks like some casual pieces thrown together, but I really like the added touches. The long sweater, skinny black jeans, simple (but effective) black pumps, and the most important accessory, a long white scarf! Since we're in the middle of winter (some of us anyway!), and spring trends are not quite here yet, you can update your wardrobe with accessory tricks. These are items that will bring your look forward - little treats you sometimes need/want (without having to invest in a major addition to your wardrobe). I love the look of a long white scarf - it's fun, and fresh, and very upcoming Spring 2009.

She's dressed down the leggings for a casual Street Chic look, but you can make these leggings look a little more fashion forward - they fall under the Goth/Punk trend this season. To add some edge, throw on a cool long tee, funky plaid jacket, and finish off the outfit with biker boots. Katie keeps it safe, which does work, but this example goes to show the versatility of liquid leggings!

Berlin Film Festival: Keira Knightley in Chloe suit, Michelle Pfeiffer ravishing
 This is the same event, folks. .. now, many of you know my view that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all. The only thing I will say about Keira Knightley on the Red Carpet at the Berlin Film Festival, is that it kinda was the wrong place to wear a daytime suit. Even though this IS Chloe Pre-Fall 2009, which means a hottest-of-the-hot runway item that only an A-list actress can obtain. BUT.. it's not Keira's film, she was there to support boyfriend Rupert Friend. It wasn't her moment, it was Michelle Pfeiffer's. Now Michelle.. who is 50 (twice Keira's age!) looks fab-you-lous in a black RM Roland Mouret dress.. my god this woman is stunning! So there you have it, such a contrast between these two actresses..Keira can knock our socks off SO easily. Remember that stunning Alexis Mabille blue creation at the London premiere of The Duchess? That would have been amazing. Ah well.

 Keira Knightley struck quite the pose on the red carpet at the premiere of her new movie, The Duchess, in London's Leicester Square on September 3rd. Showing off a very slender frame, she opted to wear Alexis Mabille, a young Parisian designer/couturier with an impressive (young) clientele already. Fans include Sofia Coppola, a growing number of French socialities... and now add Keira to the list.
This dress was a custom version of a cornlower blue dress straight from the Fall 2008 runway, the matching blue tulle (on the bodice and the hem!) from the runway version was replaced with black dotted tulle. She paired the dress with chunky patent heels by Moschino.
Love her in this dress (personally I think it's a stunning color on her!); you can't deny that she has made some edgy fashion-forward choices that certainly make her a very trend-worthy celeb!

Celebrity Handbag Update: Lindsay Lohan jumps on the Chloe Paraty Bandwagon
 As far as bandwagons go, I can't imagine a finer one to jump on that the Chloe Paraty! Readers know this is one of my personal favs, and while it IS easy to trend-spot, the luscious colours & fabulous shape will last for many seasons to come. Quality counts in this case. And welcome to a new type of profile "Celebrity Handbag Update". This is being launched as sometimes all your fav celeb bring in a new snap IS a new handbag. Bag trends come & go, but they're not as fleeting as clothing or dresses (that poor Alexander Wang corset dress may have seen it's final celeb in only a space of 3 weeks!). Carrying a quality designer handbag can make your outfit, no one knows this better than Nicky Hilton - she's often spotted wearing a simple white tee, black waistcoat & jeans, and a bag that oozes style.  So there WERE celebrities out & about who didn't attend the Costume Institute gala, thank goodness for that! And it's nice to see Lindsay Lohan dressed to thrill in label-of-the-mo Balmain.  Yes, some of you already got this right, but since I did receive a reader request, it made sense to share as a reminder! When Lindsay Lohan breezed through London back in mid-November, she did a little shopping of her own. That included both Topshop and Lipsy, and she wore some of her new pieces out during her stay. I actually quite like that - it's a normal girlie shopping thing to do (buy something new, and wear it right away!).  In the spirit of fashion efficiency, I've put everything together into one post! Maggie Gyllenhaal looked lovely at the Golden Globe Awards in her one-shoulder blue leopard Lanvin gown from the Spring 2009 runway, and it was just Trend-Spotted Twice in a shorter cocktail version. Maggie Gyllenhaal: The gilets are coming!
 This is the first significant Gilet I've seen on the red carpet (note use of the word "significant"!).. this was a trend we all knew was coming, and it was only a matter of time before a celeb took the plunge.. "gilet is a sleeveless jacket or vest.... often worn as an outer layer, for extra warmth outdoors". No surprise that it's Maggie Gyllenhaal, snapped here at the MoMa Film Benefit Gala Honoring Baz Luhrmann. She is known for both her independent spirit and fashion forward choices. I'm not sure if her gilet is real, but there are some fabulous faux fur choices out there (and shown here). This trend isn't about real fur, it's the concept/shape... perhaps the most significant gilet ad campaign came from Hermes, who did a whole "Mongolian Chic" promotion against a white snowy backdrop (plenty of sheepskin & wool). I would combine this with skinny jeans & tall boots - your gilet thrown over a nice fitted turtleneck, preferably in black. Plus I'm a big fan of cozy chic, and this fits the bill! |

This Just In: Mandy Moore in a pretty red Miu Miu dress!
 When I saw these snaps of Mandy Moore at the launch party for Latisse (fund-raising event hosted by fancy new eyelash serum promising super-size lashes!), I had to give her major profiling. She's wearing a new Miu Miu dress that just arrived online, paired with Christian Loubouin Mary Janes and one of my favs, an Anya Hindmarch little black clutch (the Marano in black). This is one of those multi-purpose dresses everyone needs in their wardrobe - it's a day dress (cotton), which means you can wear it to the office with a little black cardy, or edgy black blazer. But you can lose the cardy, put on sky-high heels and accessorize with statement jewellery, and you're ready for an evening out. See it Live: Megan Fox in black Herve Leroux bandage dress on David Letterman
 Another day, another Megan-Fox-looking-amazing moment .. she appeared as a guest last night on The Late Show with David Letterman wearing a perfectly fitting bandage dress by Herve Leroux. This is the original "Herve Leger" designer who sold his name to BCBG Max Azria, but continues to design under this new name - it can be a little confusing, but he originated the bandage dress which still continues under his old & new name!
What I like about Megan is that she is choosing items from current collections, which proves my point that a stylish lovely dress can easily be worn again & again (most celebs only choose from the future collections, not yet available to the general public). This dress is from Spring 2009, and she looks lovely - to see the dress in real life, check out the clip below.

2009 Los Angeles Film Festival: Megan Fox a vision in white jersey gown
 That lovely Megan Fox was at it again, appearing at the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival - Premiere of 'Transformers as a vision in white, in a completely new look! Just when we think we're starting to know her signature style, she does a complete 180. We just saw her last week sultry in black, and now she's glowing in a white jersey side cowl gown by Kaufman Franco (at least she stayed with one of her recent designers!).
I really like the off-the-shoulder toga style of this dress, and the drop-waist with hip belt gives it a unique twist on what sometimes feels like a cookie-cutter red carpet. And I may take all sorts of comments from readers (hey, feel free, I love it!), but she actually reminds me of a young Angelina Jolie here. She is definitely turning into a red carpet standout.

Trend Spotted Twice: Megan Fox & Ana Ivanovic in black & gold Dolce & Gabbana dress
 Can we really compare anyone to the stunning Megan Fox..? While the answer is usually no, I must say that Ana Ivanovic definitely gives her a run for her money! In case you aren't familiar with Ana, she is a stunningly beautiful Serbian tennis player who won the French Open a couple of years ago, and was ranked No. 1 in the world in 2008. She will be playing at Wimbledon, which starts next week (yay, it's my fav tourney!). Transformers 2 London Premiere: Sultry Megan Fox in black gown from Fall/Winter 2008
 Well, if you had ANY doubt about wearing a dress from last season, I hope this puts it to rest.. Megan Fox continued her Transformers 2 Red Carpet domination at the London premiere wearing a simple but very interesting Kaufman Franco dress from their Fall/Winter 2008 collection. So if you happen to have a simple LBD in your closet from a previous season that looks amazing, I say go ahead! Proof is below... Check out the snaps of Megan - the hairstyle is simple & long, make up is flawless, and her only accessory is a pair of diamond and white gold hoops by Siera (New York based jeweler). Megan Fox: Pretty in purple print dress at Transformers 2 in Paris
 Megan Fox continued to wow the crowds (and the men's magazines!) as she posed for photographers at the Photocall for the new movie 'Transformers 2 - Revenge of the Fallen' in Paris, France. She's definitely been under scrutiny lately, but no matter what "flaw" they might uncover, you can't deny the gorgeousness of this girl! The dress is Alberta Ferretti, an increasingly popular celeb designer.. fans include Claudia Schiffer, and more recently, one of Claudia Winkleman's most popular dresses on Hell's Kitchen ("where's my crab, Linda") was a lovely tiered brown silk Alberta Ferretti dress. These ones are a little tough to find, something which makes them more coveted! As for trends, there is something to take away here. Purple/plum isn't going anywhere for Fall 2009, and if you're in the mood to let your mind wander to fall, consider pairing purple with gray!

 What are the odds.. I just added bebe to the trend family of sites, and now I see Miley Cyrus snapped over the weekend wearing one of their tees..!  I owe some MIley Cyrus fans some new photos, and what luck she was snapped today hanging out with her pal in Los Angeles! I'm always a big fan of Miley when she dresses her age (Marchesa on a 16 year old doesn't seem to fit, but hey, that's just me) - and her signature style is evident here. Casual & fun - a blue plaid shirt (I'm digging the menswear look), leggings, and her usual suede boots (look likes her Dolce Vita pair). The little messenger bag is Fendi of course..  I'm thrilled to see Miley Cyrus looking super cute in a red & grey colorblock dress by Theory at World Premiere of Walt Disney's 'Bolt' held at El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood tonight. Gallery below... This is totally age-appropriate, and I like the extra kick to her outfit: bejeweled layered necklaces that fit the Statement Trend just perfectly!
Perhaps one of the biggest words this season has been "Statement"; it has been applied to shoes, accessories & jewellery alike, particularly necklaces. Here is where I repeat myself: if you have a terrific LBD in your closet that you love, all you need to do is add or combine (!) any of these necklaces and presto (yes, presto, I like that word) you're on trend for Holiday 2008.

 ORIGINAL SOURCE: Miley Cyrus may be just a few days shy of her Sweet Sixteen, but wow, she certainly has boots & handbags to rival any fashionista! Whle she still wears the suede boots with fringe (the Sam Edelman Utah Boot - trust me, I had confirmation she bought them in-store at Nordstrom!), she has expanded her shoe closet to include this lovely pair of tall boots by Tory Burch, the Marco flat boot with a buckle. This style is definitely a keeper.. it actually won't be quickly identifiable in future seasons (which is a plus when buying trendy items). A high quality tall flat boot simply never goes out of style. And Tory Burch has ramped up her shoes & handbag collections lately.. it's no surprise that Miley that has picked up on this too!

Miley Cyrus: Rocks ITV This Morning in Elizabeth & James blazer
 ORIGINAL SOURCE: Miley Cyrus was looking VERY polished & grown-up in London on UK's This Morning show, singing her latest hit song "7 Things". And while the singing was great (definitely live, not lip-sync), what caught my eye was the terrific Elizabeth & James Embroidered Poe Blazer she was wearing!
Elizabeth & James is the new(ish) line by Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen, and while I had my doubts about celebrity "designers", they are not actually the designers themselves. This is a collaborative effort with a design partner, and the collection in stores now is really quite nice & wearable. Good price point too.
Back to Miley, she paired the jacket with skinny black jeans, platform pumps and underneath the jacket wore a long striped deep v-neck sweater. This is my fav outfit of hers so far, very grown up & polished, perfect for Street Chic too! Get the jacket online here...

Fashion Rocks - Miley Cyrus in Silver on the Red Carpet
 Miley Cyrus rocked the red carpet at Conde Nast Media Group's 5th Anniversary of Fashion Rocks at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
She ditched her (recent) suede boots in favour of a leggy-fabulous metallic silver dress with star motif. She added a bit more shine with a silver belt and silver hoops. The dress itself is pretty cool - it's has a a metallic sheer overlay that provdes plenty of sparkle in non-sequin way. Above all, I love that she combined it with Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps, it makes the whole look pop.

 Natalie Portman selected a terrific & edgy dress from the Fall/Winter 2008 collection by Rodarte for the premiere of "Birdwatchers, la terra degl" at the 65th Venice Film Festival on Sept 1.
She kept up her recent natural styling - her hair was pinned back to one side, with loose soft curls framing her face. And make up was simple as well - flawless skin, soft pink accents, with rose pink lip color. The dress needed no accessories, but I have to find the black satin pom-pom pumps, they're too cute. Trend Spotted Twice: Rihanna and Paris Hilton in Alexander Wang Corset dress
 Well, this one has me puzzled.. and it's been SUCH a fabulous week of fashion. I really enjoyed covering Amanda Holden's fashion fest that was Britain's Got Talent, and think we got used to seeing unique dresses. New York Fashion Week Fall 2009: Paris & Nicky Hilton wow at Jill Stuart
 Paris Hilton is quite interesting to watch - she moves easily between top name designers and wacky girlie get-up.. and sometimes settles into picture perfect Street Chic. And today she nailed it perfectly in New York City .. I love THIS look, as her & sister Nicky arrived to watch Jill Stuart Fall 2009 runway show during New York Fashion Week. Paris is wearing a lovely velvet red dress with a bow and a gorgeous leather jacket with puff sleeves. Nicky look great as well, and check out the styling... terrific hair & make up. My first pair of high-end designer sunglasses were actually Jill Stuart.. many have come & gone since, but I still have them.  Anyone notice this trend lately..? A flurry of leopard-print activity from our fav celebrities.. Claudia Schiffer, Cheryl Cole, and now Paris Hilton.
Paris doesn't look too happy (she's still in London filming scenes for her new BFF show), but that aside, this is a pretty dress.
It's VERY Dolce & Gabbana, I particularly love the embellished belt. The handbag looks like it's from her own collection, which is probably why she' s carrying it (doesn't quite go with the rest of her outfit, I'm sorry to say!). If you're looking for a designer leopard dress, you can do the real deal, like Cheryl Cole on X Factor, but I really like the alternatives below. Very timeless in style, you can wear these for years to come... and more photos of Paris below too!

Paris Hilton in stylish peacoat & boots
 ORIGINAL SOURCE: A nod to Paris Hilton in recent weeks, especially this evening in London, where she appeared to channel her inner Brigitte Bardot - or is that her inner Duffy?! Every time I've seen her lately, she has been poised, elegant, and not over-the-top in her fashion choices. Her outfits of late are VERY wearable, yet she still maintains her own sense of syle.
I love this look - both on her, and anyone else. The little swing coat is London-inspired, a double-breasted 4-button black peacoat, and the boots are a dynamite pair of the new Tory Burch Mary Zip tall boots.  ORIGINAL SOURCE: What are the odds..?? I just spotted this dress while browsing new store arrivals (ahead of the Holiday season, as it's time for more trend reports), and thought "hmmm.. this is a geat dress" (really, I thought "hmmm"). Sure enough, today I see Paris Hilton out & about in the exact same dress!
This is a fun new party dress from Nanette Lepore called "Magic Wand" - it's perfect for this holiday season for a few reasons. First of all, it's midnight blue, which is THE evening color right now (trend #1). Second, it's has some light & fresh beaded embellishment (trend #2). Third... it's really pretty.
For styling, I would recommend black opaque tights and statement pumps, similar to the look Anne Hathway rocked on Letterman!

 Am I the only one worried celebs will run out of Red Carpet gowns?! Can't be many left between the Met Costume Gala, fabulous events weekly, and the fashion parade at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Today it was Penelope Cruz who wowed the crowd - what's an international film festival with Penelope & her mentor Spanish director Pedro Almodovar? She looked gorgeous in three back to back appearances. First, as a vision in white at 'Akvinta presents Hollywood Dominos' held at The House At Cannes, check out this beautiful white & silver gown from John Richmond Fall 2008 collection (you read it correctly, NOT Fall 2009!). She set herself apart by throwing on a current season white satin Balmain tuxedo jacket. Next, for the photocall for 'Los Abrazos Rotos', she wore a lovely bandeau-style neutral strapless dress, custom Dolce & Gabbana with THE shoe of the season, nude Christian Louboutin Very Prive Pumps. And for the Red Carpet premiere, she put her most glamorous foot forward in a stunning lilac & silver Marchesa gown (is it just me, or does it have that Balmain flare?).  Just as a reminder, winter white has fast become one of THE must-have Celebrity Trends this season - notables include Victoria Beckham, Nigella Lawson, and a VERY popular Miley Cyrus profile. In case you missed it, I'm really pleased this was the first site (on the whole interweb!) to report the coat she wore at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade last week: the terrific Juicy Couture Charlotte coat. And wow, feedback was great! Back to the topic (easily distracted, I am), Penelope Cruz appeared today at the Official Opening of 'A Diamond Is Forever Unbreakable Kiss Mistletoe Installation' - in recognition of Elton John AIDS Foundation at Madison Square Park. She wore an elegant Chanel suit from the Spring 2009 collection (not available yet), but since winter white is a very hot trend, here are some top reader picks. I'm really impressed by the Soia Kyo collection, but will let you decide for yourself!

 Penelope Cruz can do no wrong on the Red Carpet, and at a Gala screening for Vicky Cristina Barcelona held at the Odeon West End, for The Times BFI London Film Festival, she once again shows her terrific style.
She's wearing a fun black flapper L'Wren Scott dress, and threw on a sumptuous black Ralph Lauren blazer to ward off the London chill. Hey Rachel Bilson, I like your Jimmy Choo Kaja patchwork handbag
 Rachel Bilson is one of those celebs who knows how to wear a statement handbag, and today is no exception. She was snapped out & about this weekend in SoHo carrying the most divine handbag from Jimmy Choo's new Spring/Summer 2009 collection. Feast your eyes on the Kaja, an African-inspired handbag with printed pony & snake patchwork. It comes in a rich natural version (seen here with Rachel), and also a multi-coloured darker version with fuchsia accents & earth tones. I'm really loving the direction of Jimmy Choo handbags this season - while I've always been a fan of structured & sleek, there's something lasting about ethnic styles - they're not really identifiable by season or trend. Street Chic: Rachel Bilson with fab Temperley London Crackle Mata Hari bag
 As soon as I saw this snap of Rachel Bilson, I realized I have found my next handbag, Temperley London's Crackle Mata Hari! I've always been interested in the Temperley collection, and now it's totally on my radar as a definite must-have. Interestingly, it's also not the crazy over-the-top price point of other A-list designer handbags. Nor is it stamped with a seasonal "look" - it's timeless in shape & hardware (mulitple zippers), and NOT easy to recognize, which is another (secret) sign of a must-have handbag. Gets them talking... Rachel looks terrific in her cute outfit, mixing & matching item pieces that fit so well together. The little blazer over a white v-neck tee, pink mini, fabulous handbag, and short brown suede boots. One would think these items wouldn't work, but I really like this. Fresh, different & interesting. What more do you want in Street Chic? Monsters & Aliens Premiere: Reese Witherspoon shimmers in silver Rodarte mini
 Wow, is this Reese Witherspoon or Natalie Portman at the Los Angeles Premiere of "Monsters & Aliens"..?? OK, I know they look nothing alike - but it just so happens that Rodarte is Natalie's designer of choice, and not something we have seen Reese wear before! I like it... I really really like it... the pale silver mini dress from Fall 2009 runway just glimmers against her fair skin & blonde locks. She's also sporting a bit of 'tude (a very unlikely trait from Reese!). You can't come close to this original dress (Fall 2009 runway!), but since pale silver is very in this season, there is lots to choose from!  Renee Zellweger wore one of her favorite designers, Carolina Herrera, to the World Premiere of the Lifetime TV film 'Living Proof' at the Paris Theatre New York. She just happens to be executive producer of this film, which airs on Saturday, October 18th about a doctor who works to find a cure for breast cancer.

Fab White Dresses: Zoe Saldana at BET Awards & Cameron Diaz in J. Mendel
 It makes sense to combine two LWD posts into one as this is one trend that has exploded on the red carpet in recent weeks! While it does have something to do with timing (it's summer now folks), it can also be attributed to the strength of the White Trend right now. New Uhura herself, Zoe Saldana, looked divine yesterday on the red carpet of the 2009 BET Awards, wearing a perfectly fitted one-sleeve, cut-out Calvin Klein dress. Sidebar: if you haven't seen Star Trek, I totally recommend it.. you don't need to be a trekkie, it's just a really good film. And check out Cameron Diaz last week at her own film premiere of "My Sister's Keeper", wearing a beautifully simple asymmetric white dress from J. Mendel's 2010 Resort Collection. This tells us that the asymmetric trend will continue over the next couple of seasons, so you may want to invest in it now, and also that white will be a major non-colour next season as well. Star Trek Premiere: Futuristic Trend by Zoe Saldana in Emilio Pucci
 Seems Zoe Saldana is turning into the new fashionista on the block, check out her metallic mini from Emilio Pucci's Fall 2009 runway collection at the Star Trek Premiere in Los Angeles! By now you know she plays the young Uhura in Star Trek, but I remember her from The Terminal with Tom Hanks (she played the customs officer who kept stamping his application "rejected", great movie). And she also played Anamaria in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. She is an American actress, born in New Jersey to a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother. Back to fashion, in case you haven't noticed, futuristic chic is definitely here, and Zoe's dress is a perfect example of this trend. Notable collection includes Balmain, with pointed shoulders & exaggerated fitted shapes, and forward British designers such as Christopher Kane and Marios Schwab, who have introduced their own versions of the trend.
