Trend: Gladiator Sandals, Flat

Have you had your first pre-spring pedicure yet? It's that time, especially when you take a look at this hot shoe trend!

Gladiator sandals aren't a brand new trend, in fact they have held steady for a couple of summers now. But there IS an updated version, as you can see from some of the picks below.

The most significant change has been the ankle straps - they have started to climb! Plus the shape & style is much more traditional gladiator than previous seasons, which was more "gladiator-inspired" than the real deal.

Now we even multiple ankle straps climbing up the leg - the Giuseppe Zanotti version below was one of the hottest pre-order items this season. Color-wise, you can safely stick to soft metallics, which are very flattering on the leg, and if you do want black, you need to make sure the ankle straps are present & accounted for!

Fans of this look include Jessica Alba & Katie Holmes, who like to wear their gladiator flats with the new rolled-up boyfriend jean.
