Trend: The Boyfriend Blazer

No new trend has captured the imagination quite like the Boyfriend Blazer! It's now considered a staple in every fashionista's wardobe - even if you're Victoria Beckham, you own the fabulous Balmain version!

You may have also noticed the return of shoulder pads, it's more prominent in these blazers than any other item in your closet. This is totally 80s inspired, where angular shoulder were all the rage! However, instead of Joan Collins in Dynasty, think more preppy, like Demi Moore in St Elmos' Fire!

As for shape, this really should be a longer jacket. Shorter can work as well, just make sure there's a little nip in at the waist (shorter jackets still need a little shape).

Color are white, neutral/pale shades or navy/black. Avoid any & all pattern in your boyfriend blazer, and you can't go wrong if you lean towards a tuxedo-style. A satin lapel is very 2009 as well! Wear this with your skinny jeans, over tunic style dresses, or even the new rolled-up boyfriend jean.

Agyness Deyn wears this perfectly; another stylish fan is Sienna Miller.
