Ankle Strap Trend - wedges, flats & more for Summer 2012

As you start to browse the shops for new season shoes, ankle strap shoes should be at the top of your list - from casual and comfortable to edgy and formal, there really is something for every occasion!

Let's start with the basic wedge that you can't live without this season - look for raffia and other natural textures, and a wide (or double crossover) ankle strap. Light wedge high heels can be surprisingly comfortable, and having the ankle strap will make your foot feel more secure in the shoe (if you're unused to high heels!). On the subject of comfort, an ankle strap will add a little more  style to your flats - whether it's a ballerina, or statement gladiator sandal.

For the office and evening, ankle straps can be seen on some very elegant styles (Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik, shown below), and edgier labels like Camilla Skovgaard and DSquared look amazing with both casual and formal outfits. Pair your skinny jeans with a statement ankle strap for a fresh new look.
