Sunglass trends are near and dear to my heart here at ShoppingTheTrend - every year, around this time, I make sure to add a fabulous new pair to the existing collection. And this season, it has to be cat eye sunglasses. They are glamorous, retro and vintage-inspired.. words you have already heard used to describe Spring/Summer 2012.
When choosing sunglasses, the first (and most obvious!) rule is that they have to suit your face, but the variety of shapes might surprise you this season. We think of the traditional cat eye with flared outer edges that are more exaggerated, and even pointy. This season, we have over-sized round frames, with a subtle cat cat eye touch.. wider rims that take the edge off any point, and subtle shapes that will suit everyone.
Colored frames and unusual tined lenses are hot this season as well, keep that in mind when choosing a new look - check out Alexander McQueen's two-tone pink & black ridged frame, or for a more boho cat eye, how about Elizabeth & James Christopher Sunglasses with coral lenses? But fans of traditional cat eye won't be disappointed, for the fashion forward among us, Yves Saint Laurent has a pair that looks straight out of the 1950s!
