Fall 2009 Fashion Trend: Strong Shoulders

As the old saying goes, "I am strong, I am invincible".. and yes, you are woman! It was a long time coming, but indeed big shoulders are back.. and with a vengeance. It all started with a little fashion house called Balmain (that's an understatement!) when Jennifer Connelly wore this fabulous green sequin mini dress from the runway. This turned into full-blown Balmainia in the celebrity world over the summer. And you know it's only a matter of time before the real world catches up with the celebrity world. Welcome to Fall 2009, and a world of big shoulders!

The easiest way to wear this trend is with a jacket, simply throw it over your skinny jeans, and you're pretty much there (add a pair of statement ankle boots and you're very there!). If you prefer something more casual, there are some fabulous new long-sleeve tees & jersey tops with statement shoulders as well.


Wearing this trend in the evening is very easy as there are some new dresses that fit the bill perfectly. Terrific shift or pencil dresses with peaked shoulders, ruffle or flutter sleeves - even a one shoulder dress will accent the remaining covered shoulder, which will make the perfect Fall statement!
